What is Glutathione?
Glutathione is a naturally occurring molecule found in almost every cell of the body. In research settings, it is commonly studied because of its role in cellular protection and balance, particularly how cells respond to stress and environmental exposure.
Why researchers are interested in Glutathione
In simple terms, glutathione is often described in research literature as a key cellular defence molecule. Researchers study glutathione because it is involved in supporting normal cellular function under stress conditions, maintaining internal balance within cells, participating in detoxification pathways at a cellular level, and protecting cells from oxidative processes.
Glutathione and cellular balance
Cells are constantly exposed to internal and external stressors. In research models, glutathione is examined for how it helps cells respond to and recover from these stressors, particularly those linked to oxidative activity.
